Visayas Network of Development NGOs (VISNET)

The Visayas Network of Development NGOs (VISNET) consists of 17 networks of development NGOs and POs seeking to develop socially, politically and economically empowered communities in the region. It was established in 1992. The current VISNET Leadership is composed of Council of Representatives coming from the 16 Provincial and 1 City NGO caucuses/networks. The external work of VISNET in the past two years stressed on good governance through various programs and activities such as sharing of experiences on meaningful civil society participation in local special bodies, orientation on participatory resource appraisal and barangay development planning, and support for federalism. Internal work was equally geared toward good governance and capacity-building.

This Visayas-wide coalition is now in the process of transforming into three (3) autonomous regional networks according to the three Visayas sub-regions based on existing political regional subdivision and ethno-linguistic clustering of provinces, namely the Western Visayas Network of NGOs or WEVNet (Hiligaynon speaking), the Central Visayas Network of NGOs or CENVISNET (Cebuano speaking) and the Eastern Visayas Network of NGOs or EVNet (Waray speaking).
