Association of Foundations (AF) Established in November 1972, the Association of Foundations (AF) prides itself to being the country’s first heterogeneous network of foundations and non-government organizations (NGOs) engaged in programs on education, art and culture, science and technology, governance, social development, micro-finance, environment and sustainable development. In its more than three decades of unwavering service, the AF has made achievements in information management activities, including the data-gathering phase for its database on foundation profiles and best practices. It has also included in its database the trends in development work. AF also conducts institution and capacity building for its members. It is the steward of the Philippine Foundation Center (PFC)-Southeast Asia’s first one-stop resource and information center on Philippine NGOs, foundations and the civil society sector. Through the PFC, AF matches needs and resources in ways that benefit and strengthen the not-for-profit community in the Philippines. With local and global partner institutions, AF works to improve the enabling environment for Philippine philantrophy and foundation development. It has persevered to recognize and establish community foundations (CF)- private, non-profit organizations which mobilize local resources for grant giving in a defined geographic area. The AF sees the CF as a strategy that promotes sustainable community development.
