Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies (PHILSSA)

The Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies (PHILSSA) was established in May 31, 1988. It was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 14, 1990 as a non-stock service network of social development and non-government organizations (NGOs) mostly based in urban centers nationwide. Upon its formation, PHILSSA embarked on a mission of prototyping innovative paradigms of sustainable development for the effective empowerment of urban sectors, namely the slum dwellers and informal settlers, the formal and informal labor force, the youth, women and children, and the development workers themselves. In 2005, it affirmed its role in urban development as it re-defined its vision-mission statement. It envisions itself as a partnership network and resource center of social development experts and practitioners committed to advocate and work toward a gender sensitive, transformative and sustainable urbanization with preference for marginalized individuals and poor communities.

To date, PHILSSA has 48 member NGOs nationwide. It has a 5 year certification by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification since 2004. It is also one of the founding members of the CODE-NGO. Currently, PHILSSA is the national secretariat of the Urban Poor Colloquium (UPC), the national clearing house and nerve center of the major networks working on social issues of the urban poor.
